In Malignant pleural mesothelioma tumors and cell lines, there is an inverse relationship between phospho-mTOR expression and NF2 expression confirming the link between NF2 and the mTOR pathway, and we have found that immunohistochemical staining for NF2 and phospho-mTOR could be useful in selecting patients with MPM for trials targeting mTOR pathway activation due to NF2 loss
